Donovan Mitchell is anticipated to miss the Cavaliers’ Game 5 in Boston on Wednesday night due to the calf ailment that prevented him from playing in Game 4. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports on this. Neither Jarrett Allen nor Caris LeVert—both of whom are rated as dubious—went shootaround in the morning, nor did he.

This feels like the last game of the Cleveland Cavaliers season, regardless of who plays. Boston will want to win this series at home and get plenty of rest as they await the winner of the Knicks/Pacers series. They trail the Celtics 3-1.

This offseason will bring tough questions if this is Cleveland’s final season.

First on the list of inquiries: Is Mitchell going to sign a contract to remain in Cleveland? There is one year remaining on his $35.4 million contract. The Cavaliers will offer him a four-year, maximum contract deal worth an estimated $199 million this summer. If he signs it, he stays the Cavaliers’ top player going forward; if not, Cleveland will have to think about making deals for him in order to keep him from becoming a wasted free agent in 2025.

For a possible Mitchell deal, teams are already queuing up offers, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on Get Up.

“There are several teams who have offers ready, but I’m trying to tread carefully so nobody in my hometown of Cleveland gets too excited. They’re prepared.

Among those teams, he mentioned the Lakers and the Nets. Although Mitchell has long been associated with the Knicks, Windhorst noted that the club is currently focused on winning its next game and moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals, not on Mitchell. Mitchell will have a say in where he gets dealt because he only has one year left on his current deal. He can notify a team that is interested in trading for him that he will not be signing with them again.

Mitchell may stay, but things will change nonetheless. Is Darius Garland available for a trade if Mitchell signs an extension because their backcourt combination hasn’t worked out? Do the Nets give Evan Mobley the center position in lieu of Jarrett Allen? Will J.B. Bickerstaff rejoin the squad as coach?

This summer, the Cavaliers will undergo changes. Which ones will depend on Mitchell’s choice on a prolongation.

But first, Boston is home to Game 5.
