For Penn State’s group of potential draftees, this means striving to distinguish themselves in what appears to be a highly talented class this year. Four Nittany Lions have succeeded in doing so, with tackle Olu Fashanu, edge rusher Chop Robinson, tight end Theo Johnson, and edge rusher Adisa Isaac all listed among the consensus top 100 players by NFL Mock Draft Database.

This compilation is based on input from numerous mock drafts and big boards from various publications, providing insight into how each player is perceived by the media. Fashanu currently holds the 14th spot overall, a decline from his earlier ranking of 3rd. However, this shift is attributed more to the rise of other prospects rather than any shortcomings on his part, though he’s no longer considered a potential top-five pick.

Robinson is ranked 27th, also experiencing a drop from his previous peak at 16th. Despite this, his exceptional speed and agility have kept him firmly in consideration for the first round. Isaac has seen the widest gap between his current and peak rankings, currently placed at 78th compared to his earlier ranking of 54th. Similarly, Johnson’s ranking has slipped to 95th from a peak of 80th.

Overall, it appears that the media’s enthusiasm for Penn State’s top prospects has cooled somewhat. However, it’s important to note that most players tend to slide down the rankings as the draft approaches. The consensus board also serves more as a reflection of public perception rather than an accurate prediction of how NFL teams will value each player.

In the case of Penn State’s prospects, it’s likely that their draft positions will closely align with how NFL teams evaluate them. Fashanu and Robinson possess undeniable talent that should keep them close to their projections. Isaac offers a solid, dependable option for teams on the second day of the draft, while Johnson’s athleticism presents teams with the potential for untapped talent. It’s improbable that any of them will remain undrafted beyond the second day.
