The Minnesota Timberwolves secured their first playoff series victory in two decades by defeating the Phoenix Suns 122-116 in a 4-0 sweep of the Western Conference first-round. Anthony Edwards led the charge with 40 points, 31 of which came in the second half, along with nine rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 18 points. Despite stellar performances from Suns’ stars Devin Booker, who scored a playoff career-high 49 points, and Kevin Durant with 33 points, the Timberwolves emerged triumphant.

Minnesota’s next opponent in the Western Conference semi-finals will be determined between the Denver Nuggets or the Los Angeles Lakers. Their game against the Phoenix Suns was completed without coach Chris Finch, who had to leave the court for treatment after a collision with his own player, Mike Conley, with one minute and 41 seconds remaining.

In other news, the Indiana Pacers secured a comfortable 126-113 victory over the depleted Milwaukee Bucks, taking a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round matchup. The Bucks, already missing injured stars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, faced further setbacks with Bobby Portis being ejected early on. Despite Tyrese Haliburton’s back problem, he managed to contribute 24 points, while Myles Turner led with 29 points.

The Los Angeles Clippers managed to fend off a remarkable comeback effort from the Dallas Mavericks, securing a 116-111 victory to even their Western Conference series at 2-2.

Despite trailing by as much as 31 points in the first half, the Mavericks rallied behind Kyrie Irving’s 40-point performance to take the lead, only for the Clippers to regain control in the closing minutes.

James Harden and Paul George were standout performers for the Clippers, each scoring 33 points.

Had the Mavericks emerged victorious, they would have equaled the playoff record for the largest comeback win, a feat previously achieved by the Clippers against the Golden State Warriors in 2019.

Despite Luka Doncic’s impressive triple-double performance with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, the Mavericks fell short in their efforts.

The fifth game of the opening-round series will be held in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

In other news, the New York Knicks secured a 97-92 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, extending their lead to 3-1 in the Eastern Conference series.

Jalen Brunson was the standout player for the Knicks, scoring 47 points and dishing out 10 assists as his team bounced back from a loss in game three.

Brunson’s outstanding performances also marked him as the first player in franchise history to achieve at least 30 points and 10 assists in consecutive playoff games.
